This article details the basic 7 card stud rules.

Ante. Stud poker is usually played with an ante, which is a bet required by all gamblers that does not contribute to any subsequent betting.
The precise size of the ante correlates on the stakes you have predetermined to play.
In Stud poker games, antes guarantee money in the pot for whoever takes the hand. The ante is a part of the lower table stake and is paid at the beginning of the hand by each player in the game.
7 card stud poker is generally played with an ante that is usually sized 20% of the low limit bet size.

Bring in. Once the antes have been paid, all persons are dealt three starting cards - 2 down called private cards, and one face up showing on the table, called the door card, starting with the player to the dealer’s left.
The player who shows the lowest showing card initiates the first round of betting, called the Bring-in.
If 2 or more players hold the equal value face up card then the Bring-in is decided by suit, in order of the strongest to the weakest – spades, hearts, diamonds, and then clubs.
A round of betting follows after the bring-in is made. The first round of betting called 3rd Street. Each player has the choice of folding, calling or raising.
The bring in bet is normally about 50% of the small bet in the game. After the bring-in has been listed, the play proceeds around the circle in a clockwise direction.

4th Street - the turn. When player’s bets have been placed, the additional face up card is dealt to each player's hand. This card is known as 4th street or the turn.
A series of betting will now follow with the player who holds the highest open cards showing wagers first. This person is not forced to bet (differ from the low hand owner in the previous betting round) and may select to check, fold or bet.
If the highest open combination is common to more than one player, the person closest to the dealer’s left starts the round of betting. By this phase, players can bet at the highest limit, which is applied to future bets. If a players receive a pair they can list a double bet.
Once again the action will proceed in a clockwise fashion until all bets are matched.

5th street. A 5th card is added face up to every player. The action follows as in the previous round, except now all wagers and raises must be equal to the high limit bet value.

6th Street. Each player is dealt yet additional exposed card, known as Sixth Street, and play continues exactly as it did on 5th street, using double bets and strongest hand on table playing first.

7th Street – The River. A final card is now dealt dark to each active player, this is called the river card. The person who had the best open cards from the previous stage will once initiate the betting round. The players have the identical choice accessible to them: checking (if no bet has been posted), calling, raising or folding. After bets have been matched the players enter to the showdown.

Showdown. The active gamblers will now have the option of showing their hand. When playing Seven Card Stud the player who bet last is the first to open their cards, and then it continues in a clockwise direction from there, with every remaining player either choosing to open their hand, or muck it. Sometimes the gamblers will fold their hand if they are not going to win the pot, and do not want their opponents to reveal what they had.
The player with the strongest five-card poker hand is awarded the money. If two or more persons have the same 5-card combination, the money is split between these players.
